@Trishia,
Girls definitely seem very interested in having more fashion forward images for their senior portraits, what's yet to be seen is if this will just be a temporary trend or something that is more permanent. I tend to think it will be a trend that is here to stay for a long time mainly because 10 years ago nobody but family members really saw senior portraits but facebook changed all that, now EVERYONE sees the portraits so more and more girls care about the quality of the images and stuff similar to what they see in magazines is just what they want!

thank you for sharing Jake! I'd be very interested in continued posts like this- even though I don't work with models or in fashion, the theory and ideas transfer over... I'm already full of ideas for where this method would come in very useful in my own work.
Something I've been meaning to ask you, do you see Senior portraits heading closer into this sort of image? Girls especially seem to want more fashion based images than they did when I was in high school. I've really been thinking about a potential business move to introduce a higher fashion approach to senior photos.

Jake,

Do you think it would be possible to use the RAW options in photoshop cs4 instead of lightroom to do the same thing?

right on :)
this is very cool of you to reveal backstage PP (post production, not penis)
i use this method a lot even for small things like making the eyes pop and a dramatic dark shot.
and this inspired me to soon reveal the backstage on like how i made this shot:

i'd be happy to have you (jake) analyze this too, though i'm sure you know cuz you're an experienced photog.

@Kim S.
In this case I did have an idea of what the final images were going to look like before the models even showed up for styling. Kind of a funny story - one of the models was visiting from LA and excited to do a crazy shoot and seemed very sad that we were shooting such a simple beauty look, I kept assuring her they were going to be much cooler when finished but it was the first time we worked together so I'm not sure she believed what I was telling her. I think she believes me now though. :-)

Fantastic Jake. Thanks.
You left off on the idea of allowing your imagination to stay less focused, does this also apply in your approach to achieving the end result? Err, less convoluted, did you have the final image in mind when you started or was it a less focused approach? Thanks.
